On Mother’s Day Fly as an Artist

Mama Fly to Freedom
Many may not know how vital horses and art were to my mother, Dr. Olga Milada Rosalia Marie Capkova. (Cougle, Doi).
As a little girl surrounded by war, broken families and little opportunity to choose a life path, mama survived with the love for horses.
From Nazi Prague to Brussels, a teen, she made her way through labor camps working fields, caring for workhorses. Then she grew to be a university veterinary student; an artist, a painter.
The Berlin bombings brought her first marriage.
From Munich, to Florida, the Philippines, and finally Tokyo, Japan, she was the mother artist creating life for my half siblings.
In Japan, she rebuilt her life to once again include horses.  She found love …
I was born, and she once again created life for her child.
Good Mothers do this. They are artists nurturing, molding, painting a dream for their children.
When mother’s pass on, their life’s work as the mother artist is exhibited in their children.
In every one of us, there is the masterpiece.
Thank you mama.
